Alfredo entered the world at 11:45 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, making him one of the final babies born in 2021. Fifteen minutes later, his sister Aylin arrived right at the stroke of midnight. She earned the distinction of being the first baby born at Natividad Medical Center in Monterey County in 2022. “It’s crazy to me that they are twins and have different birthdays,” said their mother, Fatima Madrigal. “I was surprised and happy that she arrived at midnight.”

The Trujillo twins’ arrival brought joy and excitement not only to their family but also to the hospital staff. Dr. Ana Abril Arias, who delivered the twins, described the experience as one of the most memorable moments of her career. “Helping these little ones arrive safely in two different years was an absolute pleasure,” she said.

Aylin weighs 5 pounds and 14 ounces. Alfredo is slightly heavier at 6 pounds and 1 ounce. They join their three older siblings—two sisters and a brother. Their oldest sibling was particularly thrilled. The addition of another boy increased the excitement of the Trujillo household.
