The WWE star, John Cena, got choked up when he was surprised by dedicated fans who penned emotional letters to him, thanking him for being a good role model.

In a Cricket Wireless commercial video, Cena sits down to read those notes — but little did he know that his devotees were listening in a room next door.

The wrestling icon reads each letter one by one — stories of miraculous recoveries, overcoming heartbreaks, and battles with depression — while taking deep breaths as each note thanks him for helping them overcome various obstacles.

One such story of positive impact was shared by a young Cena fan in a video message for the WWE star. The boy named Tyler Scheer shared his story of how Cena’s positivity message ‘never give up’ helped him and his family stay strong during his mother’s cancer treatment.

Narrating his story, Tyler recalled that Cena had given his wristband to him during one of the WWE matches. He passed it on to his mother when she was going for surgery and asked her to never give up. Tyler informed that his mom battled cancer and beat it to come out free from the disease.

Overwhelmed by the message, Cena was left teary-eyed as he appreciated the life perspective Tyler had at such a young age. However, the WWE superstar was up for a surprise and the young walked into the room tearing a banner placer on the side. Cena called the young and hugged him and the duo shared an emotional moment.

“Coolest surprise ever!” Cena told Tyler as the two embraced. “You’re extremely strong, you know that?”
The rest of Cena’s fans follow suit, meeting him and thanking him for changing their lives.

“Don’t think that you’re the only one who’s up against it and don’t think that you’re the only one who doesn’t have challenges to face every day,” he told the fans. “You all lead by example and I mean it when I say it, never give up.”
