Man trapped by train ‘amazed’ by people’s power which saved His Leg
This incident happen in 2014 and still overwhelming how the people’s power would become massive for one goal.
The Australian man whose leg was trapped by a train said he was “amazed” when he saw his story on the news and realized how many strangers came to his rescue.
The man was boarding a Perth-bound train in Australia about 8:50 am when he slipped and became stuck.
Transport spokesman David Hynes said the man was boarding at the tail end of peak hour, but the train was still fairly busy.
“We alerted the driver, made sure the train didn’t move. Then our staff who were there at the time got the passengers, and there were lots of them, off the train, and organized them to sort of rock, tilt the 28-ton train backward away from the platform so they were able to get him out and rescue him.”
“My left leg missed the train and fell down the platform, right down past my knee, up to my thigh,” said Andy the man trapped.
“I just got caught up in the rush,” he said. “Somehow, getting on the train, [I] stepped through the gap instead of on to the train.”
Transit workers tried to free him, but Andy was stuck. Then, a crowd of people began to push against the train, tilting it just enough to pull Andy out of the gap. The shocking feat was caught on video, and he escaped uninjured.
“I didn’t realize how many people were witnessing this situation until I saw the footage later on the news,” he said. “I was amazed. I had no idea it was that big of an incident, that it took that many people to free me.”
Hynes praised the actions of staff and passengers who assisted in freeing the man.
“Everyone sort of pitched in,” he said.
“It was people power that saved someone from possibly quite serious injury.”
