A woman walked up to him and started singing—and the crowd couldn’t get enough
The song was covered numerous times, but this street version will stick with you. The phenomenal performance happened in Lower Manhattan in Washington Square Park, New York where a couple of buskers were minding their own business and playing songs. The show goes to a whole new level when a woman joins in.
A lady, named Abbe Rivers walked into the mix, what followed was a beautiful mix of soulful vocal plays that would rival any live performance you would pay good money to see.
Not deterred by the crowd, Rivers joins the singalong, harmonizing and lending some excellent accompanying vocals to the lead singers’ powerful soul-styled performance. There is a gravel and deep quality to both voices of the performers that seems to captivate you as the watcher and clearly the growing crowd too.
The guitarist and the main vocal man who evidently loves to perform did not see it coming. They were both shocked as the lady entered their performance. The funniest part is that the lady is carrying some things. She has a huge backpack and is obviously in the middle of something.
This unique cover band does its thing for a cause. They raise money for charities. This is just one of the reasons why we should support them.
If you haven’t yet, make sure to give them a tip once you see them perform! Because the money that you would give them would go to a good cause. After all, they don’t even want to earn—they want to help. The singer has a great voice and as the video goes on, you’ll hear that it perfectly matches Abbe’s powerhouse vocals. It’s so nice to see people having fun.
She amazingly showed off her spontaneous part in this performance. She said that she’s been earning money for college by playing on the streets. The woman deserves every penny, as her voice is amazing! She doesn’t even need a mic to be heard—it’s just pure talent.
Abbe usually performs with her band, doing shows across the streets of the big apple entertaining crowds of her own, but it’s amazing to see what happens when two extremely talented performers with very powerful voices get together in spontaneity to perform.
People are obviously enthralled by the phenomenal duo. Abbe is described as the R&B diva, a street busker, a session singer, and a performance artist. Her album, Ordinary Fool, came out in 2003 and is available on Google Play, Amazon, and Spotify.
“My lyrics tend to be a little tortured, yet the music is often uplifting and hopeful.”
That’s how Abbe described her style, and we can agree on the uplifting and hopeful part when it comes to the video.
