How a Skateboarder Turned His Pain into Purpose – and Burgers!
Neen Williams is best known for his smooth heelflip and style on the skateboard. But behind those clean tricks is a story filled with struggle, growth, and serious life lessons. “Instead of letting the setback define him, he used it as motivation.”
At one point, Neen was deep into the wild party lifestyle that sometimes follows pro skateboarding. But when a serious knee injury forced him off the board, he had a choice: stay stuck or change. He chose change—and everything began to shift.
First, Neen got sober. He knew that to keep skating and living fully, he had to get serious about his health. “He committed to fitness, completely changing his approach to strength training, nutrition, and overall well-being.” What started as recovery became a full-on passion. He even started his own fitness brand to help other skaters train smarter and avoid injuries.
But that’s not all. Neen also stepped into the food world by co-founding Not a Damn Chance Burgers in Fort Worth, Texas. He and his friends wanted to serve up smash burgers that are packed with flavor and made with care.
And Neen didn’t stop there. He got wise with his money, learning how to invest and create income beyond just skateboarding. “He’s been vocal about encouraging younger skaters to think long-term, sharing insights on financial literacy, business ownership, and diversifying income streams.”
Neen recently appeared on the podcast Life With Mikey, where he opened up about everything—his past partying days, becoming a father and husband, running businesses, and still managing a professional skate career. He even dropped some smart tips for young skaters who want to protect their future.
He’s living proof that you can grow through what you go through. Whether it’s an injury, a bad habit, or a scary life shift—Neen shows that with effort and focus, you can always come back stronger.
Neen Williams’ story is one of the coolest turnarounds out there. He didn’t let a hard moment stop him. Instead, he used it to build a whole new version of himself. That kind of mindset—staying strong, thinking ahead, and working hard—is something every middle schooler can learn from. Whether you’re into skating, studying, sports, or something else, Neen’s story shows that growth never stops if you’re willing to keep pushing.
