From Egg Sandwiches to Glizzy Street Stars
In June 2025, 15-year-old twins Chaze and Chazz Clemons didn’t know how to cook anything besides an egg sandwich.
“I didn’t know how to use a knife or anything like that,” Chazz said.
But today, the brothers are running Glizzy Street, a booming hot dog stand outside their family’s American Oil gas station on Long Beach Boulevard. They sell hundreds of bacon-wrapped hot dogs every evening, with toppings like grilled onions, peppers, jalapeños, mustard, mayonnaise, and their special barbecue sauce. A hot dog costs just $5, and drinks like lemonade, punch, or strawberry agua fresca are $4.
“It’s definitely been a crazy experience so far,” Chazz said, “… I didn’t think anybody would show up.”
On their first day, they sold only 20 hot dogs. But just a week later, they were selling over 200 every night. Lines now form 30 minutes before opening, and customers sometimes wait an hour just to get a taste. Some fans have even driven from Sacramento, San Diego, and the Inland Empire just to try a Glizzy Street hot dog.
“I never thought I would be able to cook in front of so many people,” Chazz admitted.
The brothers credit their success to posting a video online. Their first Instagram video went viral with over 370,000 shares. Today, they have 160,000 followers on Instagram and more than 61,000 on TikTok.
“Social media is definitely the key factor to everything,” Chazz said.
Glizzy Street is more than just hot dogs—it’s a family project. Their older siblings help run the stand by pouring drinks, taking payments, and keeping supplies stocked.
“Being able to run it with our family is like a major part of why we love it, and we like seeing the community. We also love the community. The community we built is really supportive and really positive,” Chaze said.
The Clemons twins are also hardworking students. Before launching their business, they had to maintain a 3.85 GPA, save $400, make a budget, and learn about profits, losses, and cooking. Their dad, Bryan Clemons, who worked his way up in the oil industry before buying gas stations, inspires them to chase their dreams.
“I see it as something big. We have big plans coming up very soon,” Chazz said.
The boys hope to expand to more locations and maybe even partner with sports stadiums. For now, they’re open seven days a week from 5 to 9 p.m. at their family’s gas station in Long Beach.
I think Chaze and Chazz’s story is amazing because it shows that age doesn’t matter when it comes to chasing your dreams. With hard work, family support, and smart use of social media, these two teens turned a simple summer idea into a successful business. They prove that even small beginnings—like knowing how to make only an egg sandwich—can lead to something big.
