How “The Sober Bodybuilder” turned his pain into purpose—and helps others do the same through fitness, faith, and fierce determination.
“When I say I hit rock bottom, I mean it. But hitting the bottom showed me I could rise.”
Brad Jensen, also known as The Sober Bodybuilder, has a story that proves people can rewrite their futures—no matter how tough their pasts are.
Brad didn’t always live a healthy lifestyle. For years, he struggled with drugs and alcohol, trying again and again to get clean. “There were a lot of failed attempts,” he admits, “but every failure taught me something.” The turning point came on November 20th, 2012—the day he chose to change for good.
He didn’t just get sober—he built a new life from the ground up. Brad leaned into fitness, something he had loved since age 14 when he first discovered a fitness magazine. “Fitness isn’t just about how you look—it’s how you live.” He got certified in nutrition and training, and eventually launched his own coaching business, Key Nutrition, in 2017.
Brad also created a powerful course called “The Next Level Experience”, which helps people improve all areas of life—physically, mentally, and emotionally. He says it’s all about getting real, taking responsibility, and never giving up.
In interviews, Brad often shares three things that helped him stay sober:
First: A relationship with a higher power
Second: A supportive community
Third: A commitment to taking care of his body
He also became a proud father and a dog dad to Champion and Chief. He says being a dad is one of the biggest joys of his life—and a big reason he stays focused on living with purpose.
Brad now inspires thousands through social media, where he shares fitness tips, honest stories, and motivation to never quit. “Vulnerability isn’t weakness—it’s strength,” he says. “Opening up saved my life.”
Brad Jensen’s story is more than inspiring—it’s proof that change is possible. I think it’s powerful how he didn’t just recover, but used his experience to help others. Whether you’re into fitness or not, his message about hard work, honesty, and hope is something we can all learn from.
