Heartwarming video shows Oshie reunited with his Marine mom
This Golden Retriever, named Oshie, was missing his mom while she was deployed in Norway in the Marines. He stayed home with his dad, patiently awaiting her return day in and day out, unsure if he’d ever see her again.
When his mom, Nancy was overseas, she missed her sweet boy Oshie badly. And the feeling was mutual – Oshie missed her a lot as well.
In fact, according to Stanley Coren from Psychology Today, dogs have the emotional intelligence of a two-year-old child, meaning that they miss their owners when they’re gone. How many of us remember being two years old and unable to fathom being away from our parents?
As Coren wrote, “In recent times, science has progressed a long way […] and we now understand that dogs have all of the same brain structures that produce emotions in humans. Dogs also have the same hormones and undergo the same chemical changes that humans do during emotional states. […] With the same neurology and chemistry that people have, it seems reasonable to suggest that dogs also have emotions that are similar to ours.”
One day, his dad started rolling his camera and asked Oshie, “Is your momma home?” The pup whips his head around and looks toward the door. When his dad asked him again, Oshie walked toward the doorway and was suddenly surprised when his mom opened the door.
Excitement is an understatement when describing how Oshie reacts.
In the video, the adorable dog can’t contain his emotions and he’s thrilled to see his mom – reacting in a very happy manner with lots of tail wags and kisses.
And based on her excitement at seeing Oshie again, it’s almost hard to tell who is more excited by the homecoming – Oshie or Nancy?
