Jolene reunited with the owner after she was stolen during car theft

The Morristown Hamblen Humane Society helped a man reunite with his missing service dog Tuesday.

According to the humane society, Jolene, a lab/pit mix who was wearing a pink collar with a bell, was brought in as a stray on Monday. Jolene had been inside a car when it was stolen in North Carolina along with his medication. He left his car running to keep Jolene cool before going inside a Dollar General store.

Staff members attempted to call the number on the dog’s tags but were unable to get ahold of anyone. They later learned the owner’s phone was also in the car when it was stolen.

The owner, Aaron Morris of Waynesville, North Carolina, luckily discovered Jolene had been found after someone contacted him after seeing the post on the humane society’s Facebook page.

Jolene and Morris reunited after five days of being apart.

In a video of the reunion, Morris enters the humane society calling out her name. Jolene wanders up to him, gives his hand a quick sniff, and then jumps into his arms. The two hug for a long time as Jolene’s tail wags and wags.

“She was so happy. It was almost enough to make you cry,” said Pam Velder, the Executive Director of the Morristown Hamblen Humane Society.

Morris said Jolene has been with him through his darkest times, including several suicide attempts.
“It’s really hard to snap out of certain situations and she just somehow can get people to snap out of things.”
Morris’ car was in Cocke County, Tennessee on Wednesday.

“There’s no stronger love bond between me and her than anyone in this world. We love each other more than life itself,” said Morris.
