What is “National Do A Kickflip Day” and when did it Start?
It all comes back to The Berrics co-founders Steve Berra and Eric Koston when they first started to roll the segment “Do a Kickflip” video as an experiment on the skateboarders in the streets of Los Angeles.
Their first installment of “Do Kickflip,” on May 1, 2018, where Koston yells at his car window, and claims that he is the shit-for-brains guy for the day to see if the skaters will comply with the request.
After its popularity with the first-ever, “Do Kickflip” video with Koston followed up the world’s most yelled in the streets predominantly to skaters.
Since the legendary pro skater started the analysis, it’s an exigent decision for The Berrics to obviously would love to add “National Do Kickflip Day” to Koston’s birth date which is April 29th.
Professional skateboarders worldwide started to acknowledge the day as “National Do Kickflip Day,” where skaters will post a clip showing they will kickflip anywhere for the love of skateboarding.
With an infectious smile and contagious positivity, Koston is one of those who you can count on to make skateboarding fun and exciting. But let’s not forget that he is also one of the pioneers of modern street skating, with a relentless obsession with progression.
Eric’s effortless style and skills helped boost the sport’s popularity and spectacular in the mid-1990s.
In 2007, Koston and Steve Berra built one of the world’s most famous skate plazas in Los Angeles. “The Berrics” featured painted steps, rails, and flat banks surrounded by scenography simulations of stores and billboards.
The name “The Berrics” is a portmanteau word featuring the “Ber” of Steve’s surname and the “ric” of Koston’s first name.
The facility is private and only open to guests. The skate plaza is home to the skate contest “The Battle of the Berrics” and several shooting sessions and online projects.
