Specialist Andrew Brown said his dog, Rocky, “definitely saved my life.”
Excitement.
That’s the word U.S. Army Specialist Andrew Brown used to describe the memorable reunion with his military dog, Rocky, months after the two were separated for rehabilitation after being injured.
“I’ve known him longer than both of my sons have been alive,” Brown said. “I think we make a pretty good team – you know, you’ve got to have 100 percent trust in your dog.”
Brown and Rocky, partners for two years, were injured in December by an improvised explosive device while searching an Afghanistan compound.
“When the explosion first happened, I was more worried about him than myself,” Brown said.
After the happening, Brown flew to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, in Maryland, and Rocky remained in Germany for treatment.
Brown said being away from Rocky was very hard and considers him a member of his family.
Brown said he didn’t know when he’ll be on active duty, or return to Ford Hood, in Texas; but Rocky reported to be planning on whether or not he will medically retire.
If Rocky does retire, Brown will adopt him to spend enter life together.
