Army recruit crushed that her dog doesn’t recognize her after 8 months apart — until he leaps into her arms

She and her beloved dog Murphy had to spend 8 months apart

For eight long months, Janna Berger and her dear dog Murphy were apart while she was off training for the army. The love they shared, however, didn’t diminish in the slightest.

“I thought about Murphy every day,” Berger said. “Being away from him was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.” And while she was gone, it was clear that Murphy was struggling to forget about her as well, as he stayed home with Janna’s parents.

Back at home with Berger’s parents, Murphy never forgot about his faraway friend. “In the first letter my mom sent me, she told me about how every day since I’d left, Murphy waited outside the door to my room for me to come back,” Janna revealed.

The day finally came when the two got to reunite – and the moment was caught on camera.

From the touching video, it’s clear that at first Murphy is quite a in disbelief. The dog appears skittish, barking and running away from Janna as she approaches. However, once he gets a good sniff of it, he immediately realizes that it is indeed Janna and not some figment of his imagination. Then, you see Murphy do a complete turnaround, cuddling Janna, and attacking her with loads of kisses.

“I had no idea Murphy would react the way he did!” Janna said. “When he didn’t recognize me at first, I was so heartbroken. The happiest moment of my life was when he finally figured out it was me.”

This wonderful reunion was a result of Janna completing her army training, meaning she won’t be leaving any time soon. In fact, she is currently enrolled in college and has plans to move into a new home with Murphy.

“He’s been the light of my life for over three years now, and I’m hoping to have many more with him by my side,” she stated.
