Kham La is so concerned about her ‘drowning’ friend
The Save Elephant Foundation, a charitable elephant sanctuary, in Chiang Mai, Thailand. They work to protect elephants and rescue elephants from across the country.
They operate the Elephant Nature Park, where the sweet video was taken. Darrick Thomson, the co-founder of the foundation helped rescue Kham La and her mother Bai Teoy in 2015 the staff said.
Kham Lha and Darrick share a loving friendship. The young elephant and caretaker looking forward to seeing each other every day and it’s obvious that Kham Lha loves her human friend.
When Darrick was swimming in the river at the sanctuary, Kham Lha thought her friend was in danger, so she rushed into the river to save him. The sweet moment was caught on video. Just watch how Kham Lha protects him when she reaches him – now that’s love!
“This can show us that, when we treat animals with love, they always [give] the love back to us,” the staff said.
“Since he rescued Kham La, he spent time to heal her from the mental [anguish] and has shown love to her.” “It’s not long after that, she [made a] strong bond with him, and accepted him to be part of her herd,” the staff said.
The foundation has rescued more than 70 elephants, most of them elderly or physically compromised. They allow the elephants to roam free and form bonds among themselves.
Their mission is a simple one: “We believe that if we treat animals with love, the animal will pay back to us with love too.”
