Three motorcyclists help woman in need
Three motorcyclists in Mesa, Arizona, are getting recognition for helping an older woman cross a busy intersection.
Eduardo Plascencia, Patrick Patterson, and Damon Pruitt were on their way to hang out at Pruitt’s home when they came across a woman who was seemingly stuck in the middle of the intersection.
Traffic was coming from both directions and the woman “took a few steps but saw many other cars coming and then stepped back to the yellow lines,” Plascencia said.
“It was crazy,” said Patterson. “She scared us at first. That’s why we hit the brakes. But we had to turn back.”
Patterson also said the moment was upsetting because cars nearby just kept going. But he was glad they were able to help.
The three men passed the woman and then turned around to stop traffic so she could cross the street safely.
A video from Patterson’s motorcycle shows the men blocking traffic for the woman, who waved a thank-you to the motorcyclists.
“When we all got home, I think we felt we had done a good deed,” Patterson said.
“People may or may not be surprised but with so much pain in the news and world,” he said, “why not be good to as many people as we can.”
Along with the act of kindness, Patterson hopes this moment helps change people’s perception of bikers.
“I wish that people knew just how much bikers care about our cities, towns, roads and etc.,” Patterson said. “Mostly bikers love people!”
