At Dad Jokes Cheesyburger, the only thing better than the burgers are the punchlines
In the heart of Frisco’s Rail District, laughter is becoming a menu item, right next to crispy fries and juicy burgers. A mom-and-pop shop called Dad Jokes Cheesyburger is flipping the script on fast-casual dining—by pairing every meal with “a daily joke.”
This laugh-out-loud concept was cooked up by Clayton and Gabby Jones, who started the idea in 2024 as a food truck. By April 2025, Clayton stepped away from a 20-year career at Rudy’s Bar-B-Q to chase his dream: “I just wanted a place that when you heard the name you smiled, and it grew from there.” That name? Pure grilled gold.
The couple’s vision is clear: “to celebrate the dads in our lives and bring some laughter.” That means burgers, jokes, and good times, all housed in a black, white, and yellow interior with booth seating, historical Frisco photos, and comedy legends smiling from the walls.
Their menu is just as bold as their humor. Burgers like the Cheesyburger and the Smoke Stack (featuring brisket-and-chuck patties, cheddar cheese, bacon jam, and grilled jalapeños) show they’re serious about flavor. For plant-based pals, the Livin’ on the Vedge offers a hearty black bean option. Chicken sandwiches and hot dogs round out the classic comfort food lineup. And yes—every order comes with a printed Dad Joke. Like this:
“I told my burger a joke… but it didn’t ketchup to it in time.”
Clayton’s passion for comedy is personal. “My kids buy me joke books and cards, and I love the comedic classics.” Each burger is seasoned with love—and a side of chuckles. Guests can even submit their favorite jokes, which may appear in the restaurant or on social media.
And for dessert? How about a pint of Plano’s Henry’s Homemade Ice Cream—another nostalgic wink to Frisco’s past, carried over from the space’s former resident, LottieBird’s Creperie.
Dad Jokes Cheesyburger is more than a restaurant—it’s a tribute to light-hearted fun in a world that could use more of it. In an age of over-serious everything, Clayton and Gabby are reminding us that sometimes, a cheesy pun and a juicy burger are all you need to turn your day around. It’s not just about feeding stomachs—it’s about feeding joy. Because when it comes to happiness, a daily joke might just be the best secret ingredient.
