Every year, Sunday River Resort in Maine becomes a winter wonderland. Hundreds of Santas hit the slopes. This brings a festive twist to skiing. This year’s 24th Annual Santa Sunday was no exception, blending holiday joy with heartfelt generosity. The event was more than just a spectacle of red suits and white beards. It raised an impressive $9,000 for The River Fund Maine. This nonprofit is committed to empowering local students through education and community support.

Participants were more than just Santa enthusiasts. Each person preregistered, donning the full Santa regalia: red hat, jacket, pants, and that iconic fluffy beard. In return, Sunday River rewarded their holiday spirit with a free lift ticket for the day. They also received another lift ticket to use before year’s end. The event wasn’t just about skiing; it was about creating ripples of change in the community.

“Events like these remind us that the holiday season is about giving,” said Sunday River Resort President Dana Bullen. “We’re proud to partner with The River Fund Maine. We support their mission to give educational opportunities. These opportunities can transform lives.”

Since 2018, The River Fund Maine has awarded annual $20,000 scholarships to local students, showcasing the power of community-driven initiatives. The proceeds from this year’s event will continue to fuel their efforts. This proves that the joy of Christmas can extend far beyond the slopes.
